10. Finishing Procedures (Part 2)


MEAW can achieve various aspects of tooth movement by using MEAW wires with  

tip back activation and various rubber bands. This can be made by evaluating anterior,

molar and premolar of maxilla and mandible.

It is necessary to understand the difference between ideal arch-wire with tip back

bends, reverse curve NiTi, and MEAW with tip back bends used in the final stage.

In the final stage, individual teeth movements as well as skeletal improvement may be

required. It is necessary to understand Anterior Vertical Elastics for the open bite

treatment, Class Il elastics for Class Il relationships improvement, Class III elastics for

Class III relationships improvement, midline elastics for improvement of the central 

displacement and the teeth movement aspects caused by using technics above.


For example, the effect of orthodontic treatment can be maximized by understanding

teeth movement aspects which is caused during leveling or closing the space where the

tooth was extracted and teeth movement aspects which is caused by the rubber bands 

used in the final stage in the cases of class II and III non-extraction treatment, maxillary

and mandibular first premolar extraction, maxillary first premolar and mandibular

second premolar extraction.


The anticipated treatment results can be achieved by understanding the rubber band

sequence used in the final stage. In addition, reverse occlusion on posterior which can

occur during the final stage allow improvement of reverse occlusion on anterior and 

normal occlusion by using expansion arch-wire as an overlay type which is allowing 

free tongue movement.

Withdrawal of subscription
  • 1. Subscription can be withdrawn within 7 days from the date of receipt of goods such as textbooks. However, if the contents of the goods are different from the contents displayed or advertised by the company or are performed differently from the contents of the contract, within 3 months from the date of receipt of the goods, etc., 30 days from the date of knowing or knowing the facts.
